Why I Am Running
I can’t tell you the number of times that I have been asked when I’m finally going to run for office. I first got the questions in college while serving as the president of the College Democrats. The comments of support have only grown over the years and I am absolutely proud to tell you that I am now officially a candidate for the Washington State House of Representatives in the 22nd district.
As a student, public school teacher, legislative staffer, city planning commissioner, school board member and college executive, I have noticed something lacking in politics today.
What I realized is that too many elected officials have stopped taking personal risks. Keeping your seat should not be as important as seizing change when critical moments arise. If elected, I will focus on courageous leadership even when it isn’t popular. I shall always focus on service to the citizenry even when my status is jeopardized.
I am running for the Legislature so that our district has representation in the Capitol that won’t shy away from those tough choices.
