Porch Side Chat "Bring Real Courage"
Recently I met Wendy; she's the coolest grandma I've met in a long time. We talked for 15 minutes in her living room and it was very clear to me that Wendy doesn't expect miracles from her government, but she is demanding that our Democratic Party elect leaders who will bring real courage to the legislature.
Wendy told me that she knows we have to pay for what we get, but she was very frustrated that HER party sends people to the capitol only to watch them abandon the ideals that got them there. She supports our schools because she wants her grandkids to have a world-class education, but she also believes that balancing the state budget with taxes on pop, beer, and water, won't get it done.
She's proud that I am focusing on tax reform, and even more proud that "young" people are still willing to dive in and make changes. Thank you Wendy, and everyone one else that believes in a truly democratic government, for staying engaged! Our collective belief in brighter days to come MUST win out over fear and pessimism. Your grandkids are counting on you and me to keep the faith, to keep the passion, and to fully embrace a new progressivism!
