People’s initiative 1077

As you know, I have made tax reform a critical theme in my race for the State House of Representatives. Yesterday, the progressive community announced a bold initiative aimed at addressing our regressive tax system. This pivotal initiative includes a decrease of the state property tax by 20%, a move that will significantly help senior citizens and other home owners struggling with a burdensome property tax. Moreover, initiative 1077 proposes a virtual elimination of the punishing B&O tax for small businesses. This is a huge win for our locally home-grown small businesses. Finally, it calls for an appropriate income tax on individuals earning above $200,000 and couples earning above $400,000.

Even if you don't agree with the details of these reforms I encourage you to embrace the conversation. By entering into meaningful dialogue we can discover the best practices for our state. The progressive community is doing what the legislature should have done – actively addressing tax reform in a meaningful way! Tax reform is paramount in our efforts to support middle class families and small businesses. I am proud of my commitment to this issue and will continue to make it a key component of my campaign in our 22nd district. I will keep fighting for progressive tax reform. I will continue to address those issues that are difficult. I will remain strong in my resolve to do what is best for middle class families and small business owners. Please, join me in supporting initiative 1077.
