No more cuts for higher ed!

I work as the Deputy Executive Director of the State Board of Community & Technical Colleges. I have worked on numerous higher education funding issues over the years, and I have helped to draft critical pieces of legislation that focus on higher education access to low income students. Much of what we have accomplished for Washington families and working adults is in jeopardy.

I believe two things wholeheartedly – first, that there is simply no way we as a state will compete in the global economy without a well-educated populace and secondly, that our goal of providing higher education access to anybody who is willing to work hard and seize the opportunity is being threatened.

If I’m elected to the legislature, I will be a voice for increasing higher education funds in our state—for colleges and universities. We must fix our long term budget crisis, and in turn preserve access to our colleges and universities.
