Chris Reykdal endorsed by Rep. Brendan Williams

Last night, State Representative Brendan Williams endorsed Tumwater School Board member Chris Reykdal to succeed him in the State House of Representatives. Williams is leaving his 22nd District Seat after three terms.

I promised to support the candidate labor supported,” stated Williams. “I wanted each candidate to be subjected to a vetting process, and not be simply anointed to serve. That process has largely occurred now.”

Williams pointed to the fact that Reykdal recently won the sole endorsement of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, as well as individual labor endorsements from the Thurston-Mason-Lewis Labor Council, Machinists Local 751, the Amalgamated Transit Union, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 612, and all four 22nd District locals of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

“I’ve fought for progressive values in the State House,” said Williams. “I’m endorsing Chris Reykdal because his background has given him a strong commitment to our union families, the passion to fight for full funding of basic education and the guts to vigorously take on the issue of tax reform. The field of candidates in this race is impressive, but one candidate stands above the rest. That candidate is Chris Reykdal, and he has my full support.”

Rep. Williams joins a growing list of community leaders, elected officials and organizations that are supporting Chris Reykdal. To view the complete list of leaders supporting Chris Reykdal, click here.

“Brendan Williams has been a tireless advocate of progressive causes. In the legislature, Brendan focused his three terms on supporting working families, protecting our environment, and defending consumers’ rights,” said Reykdal. “It’s time to reform our tax system to ensure that we have the resources we need to protect the vulnerable, fully fund our schools, and create the right investments that will transform our economy into a modern green economy that creates sustainable jobs.” Reykdal went on to say, “I look forward to working with community leaders like Brendan to further bring about progressive reform. The challenges we face, though daunting, are only trumped by the negative consequences we will face if we fail to act with courage. The same courage demonstrated by Representative Williams over the last six years. I am honored to have his support!”
